Kolkata, which you call the city of joy is actually a city of magic. Have you checked your photo galleries, albums? You can find pictures that capture your memories or have been a matter of attraction in your social media timeline. But, we proudly claim us bengalis but we rarely appreciate or cherish our lives as a bengali.
This is not a blog or an article. This is a tale of being bengali, a story of bangaliyana which is preserved in every Bengali soul.

Let’s have a recap of the clandestine memories which you might has experienced as a bong.
Childhood, the best part of life. Life started with calling your mother “maa” in bengali. The language which magically took away the place of companionship for the whole life as a mother tongue, major language for communication.
Soon the abc’s of our lives changed with experiences and we soon turned framing words and sentences.”

Bornoporchoi helped us to frame over bengali. We all were forced into extra-curriculars but soon studies drenched all our passions and the pressure of getting a government job started to suffocate us.

School reminds of the rabindrasangeet sung during rabindrajayanti. The yellow saree of swaraswati puja and the bengali valentine’s day was well cherished. The Kulfi, achaar and alukabli available outside the school gates were one of the most important reasons to wait for the tiffin break.

Thakurmar Jhuli, Gopal Bhar crossed over Doraemon. Feluda was more rated than Sherlock Holmes. Sunday Suspense is the best ghost series. UttamKumar still grabs the heart and Satyajit Ray still makes us proud.

The craze of Saurav Ganguli, list of bengali serials still define us. Ganga ghat evolves loves and promises of many couples. College Street is still preferred over Oxford book store and crosswords. Coffee is still a luxury but matir bhar e cha evokes emotions and swirls up debates stretching from politics to the complete diaspora of the world.

Ami tomake bhalobashi sounds more genuine than I love you. In the World drooling over “Shape of you”, “despacito” stills finds a relief in ” tumi robe nirobe” and the other segments of gitabitan. Mahalaya depicts the same story but the nostalgia never fades. The dhak and dhunno intoxicates us more than liquor. Punjabi and saree makes you look the best.

Esplanade, Maidan are always up with a number of surprises. Poila Boisakh starts the year better than the new year. Bhai fota beats over rakhi bandhan.

Sindur, Aalta, topor and saath pakh binds two hearts in an eternal bond. The medicaments of baul, the song of sailor (majhi) acts as oxygen for a bengali soul. You celebrate “baro mashe taro parbon”.

Arts and classics are in your genes. Fish is ultimate love. Foodie is the best nickname of a bengali. Misti doi, rosogolla, fuchka and this long list of magic is a special folder of moments in your life.

Durga puja is the reunion and the best recreation waited for, throughout the year.
This is a long gallery of memory. Hope you can recollect few from it. These covers many ages of your lives. Photos capture memories, live and explore these memories once again with this write-up.

Share your nostalgic feeling of bangaliyana with us along with the feedbacks. Make the bhalobasha of being a bong reach out far and wide.
