ISKCON Kolkata – Sri Sri Radha Govinda Mandir
After establishing hundreds of temples all over the world, Srila A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, world’s most illustrious saint, returned to India in August 1970. He established ISKCON’s first center in India in Kolkata at 3C Albert Road, Kolkata – 700017. The first deity in India was installed in Kolkata and worship started from this temple in May 1971. The first Rath Yatra of ISKCON in India was celebrated in Kolkata on 12th July 1972.
ISKCON today is a worldwide confederation of more than 400 centers.
Today apart from the grand Rath Yatra festival in Puri, Orissa (India), this glorious festival is celebrated by ISKCON in more than 100 major cities of the world such as Dublin, Belfast, Birmingham, London, Budapest, Melbourne, Montreal, Paris, New York, Singapore, Toronto, Antwerp, Kuala Lumpur, Venice, Dhamrai etc. In India too ISKCON celebrates this grand festival in several cities like Mumbai, Kolkata, Pune, New Delhi, Ludhiana, Chandigarh, Lucknow, Chennai, Hyderabad etc.
