“Due to severe heat wave, schools and colleges in West Bengal to remain closed next week”
Due to severe heat wave conditions, the West Bengal government has requested all educational institutions, including private ones, to stay closed next week. In this regard, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has announced that all schools, colleges, educational institutes, and universities in the state will remain closed from April 17 to April 22. An official notification regarding this matter is expected to be released soon.
It’s worth noting that the State government had previously advanced the summer vacation in State-run schools on April 13. The summer vacations in government schools across West Bengal will now begin from May 2 instead of May 24, which was the earlier schedule. The announcement was made following the meteorological department’s alert on the anticipated rise in temperatures in districts such as Bankura, Purulia, Paschim Medinipur, Paschim Bardhaman, and Birbhum.
The State has been experiencing day temperatures of over 40 degrees Celsius in most areas, and the MeT department has predicted that heatwave conditions will persist until April 19.
