- Fort William: It is one of the many forts in Kolkata that one must surely pay a visit to. Fort William is an iconic structure that is suggestive of the city’s colonial heritage. It is situated on the eastern banks of the Hooghly River. Fort William covers an area of ​​approximately 70 hectares. This fort was named after William III. The fort was built in the year 1696 and is found to be decorated with intricate stonework. Currently, the fort serves as the headquarters of the Eastern Command of India, and the civilian access to some interior parts of the fort is restricted.
- Jorasanko Thakur Bari: Another famous historical site in Kolkata is the Jorasanko Thakur Bari. It is the ancestral home of the Tagore family in Jorasanko which is located to the north of Kolkata. Also referred to as Tagore’s House, it was the residence of the poet where he was born, spent most of his childhood.
