The government is set to issue a new ₹100 commemorative coin in honor of the 100th episode of Mann Ki Baat.
To celebrate the 100th episode of the Maan Ki Baat radio programme, the government will release a commemorative coin with a denomination of ₹100. These coins, while considered legal tender, will not be available for general circulation and can be obtained through specified agencies. The circular coin will have a diameter of 44 millimetres and 200 serrations, with a quaternary alloy composition consisting of 50% silver, 40% copper, 5% nickel, and 5% zinc, according to a Finance Ministry notification. The obverse side of the coin will feature the Lion Capitol of Ashoka Pillar in the center with the words “Satyamev Jayate” inscribed below it, along with “Bharat” in Devnagri script and “INDIA” in English on the left and right periphery, respectively. The coin will also bear the Rupee symbol “₹” and the numeral value “100”. The reverse side of the coin will showcase the 100th Episode of Mann Ki Baat logo, which consists of a microphone with sound waves and the year “2023” written on it, with “Mann Ki Baat 100” written above and below the image in Devnagri and English, respectively.
Prime Minister Modi debuted on the radio with Maan Ki Baat on October 3, 2014, and it has since become a regular broadcast at 11 am on the last Sunday of every month. The programme provides a platform for the Prime Minister to share his thoughts on various issues, and a separate open forum has been created on MyGov for citizens to share their comments for the forthcoming radio programme. The PM references some of the points made on the forum during his broadcast. Maan Ki Baat is one of the outreach tools used by the government through All India Radio (AIR), with 479 stations across the country reaching nearly 92% of the country’s area and 99.19% of the total population. AIR broadcasts programming in 23 languages and 179 dialects, with various language versions of Maan Ki Baat also airing.
