Astra Microwave Applauds Success of #OperationSindoor, Reinforces Role in Indigenous Defence Advancement
Astra Microwave Products Ltd., a leading Hyderabad-based defence and space technology company, is proud to reaffirm its pivotal contribution to India’s indigenous defence capabilities through its involvement in the Akash Air Defence Missile Systems. The company collaborated closely with the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) for the development and production of critical modules and subsystems that played a key role in the recent success of #OperationSindoor.
In this landmark operation, India’s homegrown Akash Missile Defence System demonstrated its exceptional effectiveness by simultaneously engaging and neutralizing four aerial targets across multiple locations—Jaisalmer, Kutch, Hoshiarpur, and Bathinda. The performance underlines the growing strength of indigenous defence manufacturing and the robustness of Made-in-India technologies.
“We are honoured to contribute to the success of Operation Sindoor, which highlights India’s strides in defence self-reliance,” said Suresh Somani, Member of the Board, Astra Microwave. “Our radar, communication, and electronic warfare subsystems ensure precision, intelligence, and real-time response on the battlefield.”
Astra Microwave has long supported DRDO and ISRO through the supply of advanced microwave components used in missile guidance systems, space missions, and surveillance platforms. Its electronic warfare technologies bolster India’s border security by enabling interception, jamming, and control of enemy communications.
The Akash system’s triumph is not just a military win but a testament to the strength of India’s public-private partnerships in defence manufacturing. As India continues its mission towards Atmanirbhar Bharat (self-reliant India), Astra Microwave remains committed to pushing the boundaries of defence innovation.
