MS Dhoni commented on Eden Gardens being adorned in yellow for the KKR game, saying “They are simply bidding me farewell.”

During the Kolkata Knight Riders’ home game against Chennai Super Kings on Sunday, a sea of yellow shirts filled the Eden Gardens with chants of ‘Dhoni! Dhoni!’ that were louder than those for a KKR boundary. The CSK captain, MS Dhoni, said after the match, “I will just say thanks for the support, they came in big numbers. Most of these guys will come in a KKR jersey next time. They are trying to give me a farewell, so thanks a lot to the crowd.” The visitors went on to win the game by 49 runs in a high-scoring match, scoring 235 runs, the highest ever in the shortest format at the venue. The 2022 IPL season is speculated to be Dhoni’s last, and since retiring from international cricket in 2020, he has not participated in any competitive cricket matches other than the IPL. CSK are currently on top of the points table with five wins in seven games.
