Restoration and repair work planned for Dakshineswar skywalk.
The Kolkata Metropolitan Development Authority (KMDA) has initiated the repair and restoration of the Dakshineswar Rani Rashmoni skywalk in Kolkata. The restoration project involves replacing corroded bearings, covering leaks, repairing the pathway underneath, and applying anti-corrosive paint to the structure. The estimated cost of the project is Rs 2.8 crore, and a work order has been issued to an agency for the job. KMDA officials anticipate completing the project before this year’s Puja festival. Prolonged exposure to rainwater has led to corrosion of nuts and bolts on the iron joints, necessitating their replacement, and anti-corrosive paint will be applied to the iron structure. Additionally, some areas will receive new tiles, and the damaged pathway below the skywalk will be fixed.
